My journey is not of a typical composer. I am a classical pianist (DipLCM) and have been playing all my life. I also play flute, clarinet and saxophone. I am also a military (diplomatic) spouse. In 2019 my family was sent on a 3 year posting to Georgia, country. I gave up my career in finance for my family. After only 6 months, the army relocated us to Minsk, Belarus. It was incredibly isolating, I bought myself a digital piano to stay sane and taught myself Ableton. In 2020, Covid struck the world, which the dictator of Belarus said was a psychosis that could be cured drinking vodka, and driving a tractor. Whilst the rest of the world was isolating, Belarus then entered a rigged presidential election. Given my husband’s responsibility to report events, we became the subject of government intimidation which ultimately resulted in 20 hours to leave Belarus as Personae Non Grata; We relocated to Kyiv, Ukraine. My husband received national recognition for his role in Belarus. After only a few months in Kyiv, we were forced to evacuate to Tirana, Albania in early 2022. My journey has taken me through 10 countries. I started an MA in Songwriting and Music Production with TSE (Chichester University), which I have now completed. This album is my resulting travel diary. It combines electronic beats, with my own sound recordings, some local, world, musical influences and piano. I attempt to show a happy side of each country. Tracks: 1. Heart (depicting travel via a train, with splashes of my sound recordings) ultimately entering a tunnel to the unknown. 2. Spring (Kyiv in Spring in happy times). 3. Enchant (chanting of the caucasus). 4. Wanderlust (loops depicting motion). 5. Distance (Belarus slavic pipes in a very different country to my own). 6. Isolate (being caught in Belarus during covid). 7. Rise (this is highly warped protest recordings in the style of Hannah Peel). 8. Storm (recorded from a thunderstorm on the balcony). 9. Sail (Greece and the Albanian coastline sailing). 10. Soar (improvised from Street clarinets of Albania). 11. Heart (piano only). My album has been described by Guy Michelmore as “This is absolutely wonderful, inventive innovative. I absolutely love the blend of sounds – it works brilliantly. This is truly top class music – composition, production, the works”.My story is my music and I’d like to be considered for the originality i’ve brought to project. I released “Sail” yesterday. The rest is unreleased.
