I began my composer journey during the COVID lockdowns by studying online with ThinkSpace Education, driven by the dream of making music professionally. Coming from a very humble and poor background, and raised by my father, I wasn’t able to pursue this path until my mid 30s. It took time and the unusual circumstances of COVID before I could even afford to take a chance on entering the world of media composing.
Over the past two years, I’ve had the opportunity to assist Anne-Kathrin Dern on Metro: Awakening, work with Guy Michelmore and Peter Bateman, have my music shared by Joris de Man, and even receive unsolicited and unexpected kind words about my work from Hans Zimmer and Justin Hurwitz. I’ve also begun landing a few projects of my own along the way.
Truthfully, I don’t feel I’m quite there yet to be considered for the Composer Spotlight Award, but I reminded myself of the saying, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” and decided to submit anyway. I’ve included a range of work, not too much, out of respect for your time, and I just want to say thank you for the opportunity. To whoever takes the time to listen: thank you for considering my humble submission.
