Hello! My name is Alasdair Parkinson and this is my 3rd year composing music since leaving college. My musical journey started on the guitar around 7 years old. I was listening to artists such as Led Zeppelin, Guns N Roses and The Who before getting into blues and eventually jazz. In 2020, I reached the semi-finals of the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year competition.
I was fortunate to receive a scholarship to study Guitar Performance with Contemporary Writing and Production at Berklee College of Music where I was trained in composition, orchestration, production and arranging. There, it became clear that I was passionate about writing and producing my own music.
I started pursuing library music after I graduated and had my first major album release ‘Drama String Promos’ with Nova Production Music in December 2024. It has already been featured on ESPN, BBC, Channel 4 and many more. Production Music really excites me because it allows a huge amount of creative freedom. I love writing in many different styles and it’s always exciting getting a new brief in a new niche. More recently I’ve been collaborating with talented artists such as Stephania Pourgouri and Louise Dowd on some exciting upcoming projects.
I’d like to be considered for this award as it is a great opportunity to meet people in the industry (in person!) and expand my connections with libraries, fellow collaborators and musicians as I’m in the early stages of my composing journey. I hope you enjoy listening to my work and the recent releases on Nova Production Music. Thanks very much for your consideration!
