Hi, I’m Katy for Kings . I’m currently 24 years old and have been writing music since I was 14. It’s always been my outlet. I would hide in rehearsal rooms during my lunch breaks and free periods so that I could write songs. I’ve gigged locally for over a decade, trying to keep peoples attention on me and giving 100% each time, even to empty rooms. I’ve been aware of and interested in sync music for 7 years, but only released my first EP Outlines with official production music library Extreme this year. Looking back, I see these 7 years as a blessing in disguise as they forced me to get extremely clear on what I want and who I want to be as an artist/writer. I feel I achieved this with this project and that it has been received better than I ever could have expected. A moment that sticks out to me as an important part in my songwriting journey was Extreme’s writing camp that took place in November, 2024. We were given 3 briefs and expected to write 1 song per session, I ended up writing 2 in each. It was an opportunity for me to really prove myself, and make a lasting impression. As I am here writing this for you now, I feel like that paid off. This year I played my first ever band headline gig and I also played The Great Escape festival. These were both incredible opportunities and I’m very grateful. I’d like to be considered for this award because the Production Music Awards have been on my radar (and also vision board) since I started writing for Extreme, and I didn’t think it would be possible for me to be involved in them for many years to come.
