I first fell in love with music, studying ballet & theatre in New York City throughout my youth, eventually traveling to London to work at Warner Brothers Studios where I focused on composition and music production. It was there that I was recruited by Hans Zimmer to apprentice at Remote Control Productions. After years working my way up the ladder there as a music editor, I found a life-changing mentorship in film composition working side by side with Academy Award-winning composer Mychael Danna.
I’ve created a body of work across multiple music genres ranging from folk to electronic to orchestral. I’m currently scoring Hayley Kiyoko’s directorial debut Girls Like Girls for Focus Features, produced by Marc Platt in which I scored the film as well as cowrite and produced 4 songs for it. Last year, I completed the score for the Jennifer Lawrence hit film No Hard Feelings, as well as Amy Rice’s political thriller The Independent, starring John Cena and Brian Cox, and Nicol Paone’s crime caper The Kill Room, starring Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman. My most recent projects include Pierre Morel’s action thriller Canary Black and Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Stories. Credits include Sony/ Amazon’s Cinderella, directed by Kay Cannon, which was the #1 streaming film Worldwide. For this achievement, I won a BMI Award. Other projects include Everything I Ever Wanted to Tell My Daughter About Men (featuring a collaboration with pop sensation Sia), the Dolly Parton-produced Women’s Rights documentary Still Working 9 to 5, and Amazon’s dramedy Don’t Make Me Go starring John Cho and directed by Hannah Marks.
I’m an alumni of the Universal/Dreamwork’s Composers Initiative and a proud member of the Alliance for Women Film Composers. In addition to my film work, my music has been performed on stages around the world, from The Globe Theatre in London to The Joffrey Ballet in Chicago to The Wiltern Theatre in LA.
I’d love to be considered for the Composer Spotlight Award because I’ve invested my life into my music and my career. It would a great honor.
