I’m a London-based composer, multi-instrumentalist and improviser working across film, installation and live performance. Classically trained on violin and piano, my work often blends traditional instrumentation with electronics and sound design to tell stories in unexpected ways.
For years I struggled to put myself and my music out there and the lack of female representation in the composition world made me doubt I had a place in this industry. But as things have slowly begun to change, people started having conversation and more female composers were getting commissioned and it’s given me the confidence to share my work more openly and pursue bolder projects.
This year has been a turning point: I was commissioned by The Design Museum to compose and perform Pandemonium: Music for Parakeets, a cross-disciplinary project that became part of their ‘Artificial’ exhibition and attracted significant public and professional interest. I’m also scoring my first feature film and working on my debut game project, all while continuing to release my own music (recently featured on Apple’s Classical Edge playlist). There are a few film projects currently pre-release at the moment, too, so sadly cannot share those on the link below.
I’d love to be considered for the Composer Spotlight Award because recognition like this shines a light on composers who may not have always been the loudest in the room, but are committed to making work that feels unique, heartfelt and impossible to ignore.
