My name is Louis Wild and I am a composer based in the North East of England. I write music for independent short films, and I am beginning to venture into the world of library music. Some career highlights so far include scoring an RTS award-winning short film, and reaching the national final of the inaugural ORA Singers Young Composer Competition in 2019, adjudicated by Stephen Fry and John Rutter.
I enjoy writing for media (be that scoring work or library tracks) as I feel having a specific brief or target emotion helps me to create a focussed and effective track. I am a classically trained pianist, but as a composer I enjoy exploring a variety of genres, ranging from true crime underscores to orchestral soundtracks – both of which can be heard in my portfolio. One thing I admire about good library music composers is the exceptionally high production quality of their tracks. This is something I have had to work hard to emulate in my music, as I come from a more classical, notation-based approach to composition, where music production isn’t traditionally considered as part of the role of the composer. I love working in a DAW ecosystem as it opens up so many sonic possibilities and provides a much more creative, responsive, and intuitive compositional experience, in my opinion.
I would like to be considered for the Composer Spotlight Award as I would like to be able to attend the Production Music Awards to network with fellow members of the library music industry. I know this industry is saturated with high quality music by excellent composers, so I hope this achievement would help me to reach music libraries who connect with my music, and would potentially like to develop a professional relationship.
