Supporting Information

I’m here because I think access is the hardest piece of the puzzle in our industry. And this spotlight could help me find a platform to share my passion, insight, and collaborative spirit. I’m incredibly proud of my journey, as circuitous and unconventional as its been. Sure, if I could time travel and tell teenage me that being a film composer was a job I could do, it would have gotten me on that path a decade earlier. But so many different influences, film scores, albums, and live shows have woven together to make me the. composer I am now. While the majority of my work has been as a media composer – film, video games, ads, and theater – I recently dove into the world of production music. Specifically trailers. In the first two months I’ve landed an album with a library, got commissioned to write a second album for another startup library, and been brought on to Verdaunt’s roster to write for a recent feature campaign. The access and relationship building it took to get there was so much of the work but behind the scenes I’ve been analyzing trailers (about 300 in the past two months), the artful, bold language used in trailer music, and connecting with experts in the industry to understand the trends and needs that music supervisors have right now. There’s a lot to be said for have a deep understanding of the three-act structure but I’ve found that thinking like an editor, like a storyteller, is how to find inspiration and confidence in this very specific but thrilling artform. Aside from my recent trailer work I’m an accomplished orchestrator and conductor having recently worked with the London Symphony Orchestra on an album, as well as film scores featuring the London Contemporary Orchestra, and Budapest Scoring. I live and breathe this music. Bold, unforgettable, moment-driven scores and cues. I really deeply and genuinely believe that the opportunity to connect with the right people through this competition will help get access to the collaborators and creatives that I know will change my career for the better.
